Discovering Domaine Cauhapé...

...An Immersion in the Heart of Jurançon.

Nested in the heart of the Jurançon vineyards, Domaine Cauhapé is a winegrowing nugget that embodies excellence and a passion for wine. Founded by Henri Ramonteu in 1980, the estate is now recognised as one of the key references in the appellation. A visit to Domaine Cauhapé is a sensory and cultural experience that immerses you in the fascinating world of the wines of south-west France.

Visiting the estate

Your adventure begins with a stroll through the vineyards of Domaine Cauhapé, where you will discover hillsides with generous south-east exposure, benefiting from a unique climate and varied soils. Henri Ramonteu and his team will give you a warm welcome and guide you through the vines, explaining the history of the estate, growing techniques and the importance of terroir in producing exceptional wines.

The vineyards stretch over steep hills, where each grape variety is carefully selected and cultivated with exemplary rigour. You'll learn more about the native grape varieties such as Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, Camaralet, Courbu and Lauzet, which give the estate's wines their aromatic complexity and unique character.

The cellar tour

The tour continues with an exploration of the vinification and ageing cellars, where the magic happens. Domaine Cauhapé's cellars are equipped with stainless steel vats and barrels, where the wines are matured with care and precision. You'll discover the different stages of winemaking, from harvesting the grapes to bottling, fermentation and ageing.

Henri Ramonteu will explain the winemaking techniques specific to each cuvée, as well as the importance of blending to create balanced, harmonious wines. You'll be impressed by the attention to detail and passion that goes into every step, from pressing the grapes to monitoring fermentation temperatures.
